Google Health expands deal with CVS

Electronic Health Records may not be a standards war but is a war nonetheless and Google has landed the first blow by partnering with CVS.
By partnering with CVS google has improved on the use of Health records. Now the health records do not just sit on some google server for fun , but can be used for prescription at CVS.

Microsft..your turn!

  1. Since this deal is a pharmacy related deal, I care less about when Microsoft signs up CVS, but more about when Google can strike a deal with additional national chains like Wal-mart, Walgreens, Target, Rite Aid, etc.

The true value of this deal isn't reached until Google can aggregate the drug history of a patient over *most* chains. Relying on self-reporting is both inaccurate and potentially dangerous.

  2. Mapping of network of connections and understanding the differential logic of interactions among competitors are key to developing insights here. This will evolve quite rapidly in the coming years. Worth tracking and watching.
