To me, it is interesting that Intel is going directly to a services company, bypassing the usual suspects in the 'software' layer (such as Microsoft or IBM etc.). Clearly, Intel does not want to be seen as being in the commodity-end of the chain. By creating a JV focused on new products, they are working to further extend the 'Intel Inside' logic of embedding Intel as a core module in the evolving healthcare system.
ReplyDeleteGE Healthcare can leverage Intel's competence in ethnographic research to modify the products and services according to the culture and needs of different geographies. With growing China/India markets it would be important to find what technology means in the religious, cultural and social context to the Asians.
