Another brilliant advertising using Google

I was watching movie trailers on Hulu and this caught my eye.

The last few seconds are especially interesting.

This advertisement takes Goolge from a 'product review aggregator' to 'the holder of truth' in a way.

Please check it out and let me know your comments.

  1. it is even more interesting that when you google 2012 the first listing is a wikipedia page followed by the movie's official site. is google being dubbed the holder of truth or is wikipedia and google is just where you go to find the truth.... (i don't believe that wikipedia is the truth)

  2. From an aesthetic standpoint, I like the contrast of the monk using ancient bells to communicate a warning with the exhortation to google the movie title for more information about the end of the world.

Great narrative. Thanks for the tip, Vivek.

  3. This does not bode well for anyone else in the search business. While Microsoft chases it's tail (the tail being Yahoo) and Yahoo is trying to reverse recent trends and begin to gain market share again (with a new CEO at that), Google is becoming THE place to go for any and all information. The market leader (by a huge margin) has found a new and creative way to expand it's brand awareness and steer people to it's site.

Could this be the beginning of a new strategic divide and era of search engine partnership? The companies that steer you to Google, and the companies that steer you to Yahoo, or whoever else? If not, then I would like to wish good luck to the "others".
