Clearly as others seek to compete against Apple, we need to look more in depth about the ecosystems that is supporting Apple iPhone. I found this presentation to be useful. Please review it if your setting calls for understanding the role of apps and widgets. Your recommendation to the CEO may be to think an app for iPhone. Instead of making such a general recommendation (without much deeper insight), you may want to be more specific about how and why such an app may work for them as you learn from others.

My roomate has been itching to come up with a brilliant idea and make some quick money for next months rent by developing an iPhone App. This article by an iPhone app developer is an interesting read, as he talks about the relatively easy process to develop an App, but the incredibly painful process of actually making money off it. Gives some interesting insights developers use to keep listing their Apps on top of the HUGE App store List, like fake updates to their apps (every time you update the app, it goes to the top of the list!)
