More on Twitter

It's funny - I could never really understand the appeal with Twitter. The way I see it, who am I to presume that others (aside from possibly my parents) want to read about the daily minutia of my life? It makes sense, then that there's some heavy - and candid - twittering amongst celebrities. This recent NYT article provides some interesting insight into the "Celebrity Twitter Ecosystem".

  1. I wonder how many of these celebs are writing their own Tweets? Looks like there's a lot of Twitter ghostwriting going on.

  2. For the sake of efficiency, you can use http://ping.fm/ to tweet to your twitter account, update your Facebook status, change your GChat away message, and post to this blog with just one email. With so little time, I just hired Britney Spears and Octomom to send messages to my Ping.Fm account.

  3. I had the same feelings as Ana when i heard about twitter, who cares what others are doing at every instant of every day. However, when i brought these concerns to my wife, i learned i was sadly mistaken. As was briefly mentioned in our Media and Entertainment presentation the other day Twitter is far more to many people.

For Example, Brie uses Twitter to follow leading professionals in her field, career advising. For her it is a compact way to aggregate information on her industry's blogs, websites, conferences and articles. She refuses to follow people who use it as a social tool and has found it to be a great tool with which to stay in the know.

  4. Twitter does not properly perform identity assurance with their service. Several accounts that look like actual celebrities are not even ghost writers, but are completely fake people all together.

  5. Here is another article about celebrity twitter. Twitter is hiring a concierge for celebrities:
